Lenses

We love to discuss and advise the most suitable lens required for your life style and individual visual requirements.
There being so many lens combinations now available, we feel that our expert advice can help you make the correct choice for your needs within your budget.
We will be able to advise you on:

Single vision lenses have a single prescription that covers the whole lens.

People under the age of 40 mostly opt for these as they’re more likely to have just one prescription.
So if you only need glasses for one type of vision, our optician may prescribe these to you.

You may need to have 2 pairs of single vision glasses, for example, one pair for seeing far away, like when you’re driving, and one pair for close up tasks, like reading.

Varifocal lenses are the modern alternative to Bifocal lenses without the line.
They are normally advised to people over the age of 40, normally when separate distance and near prescriptions are required, giving you clear vision at all distances.
Varifocals save you switching from distance to reading glasses.
we have a wide range of varifocal lenses to choose from so you are guaranteed to find the right varifocal lens for you.

Bifocal lenses are divided into two parts to accommodate a combination of any two different prescriptions into one lens. For example, distance prescription in the top half for driving and watching TV and Reading prescription in the bottom section.

So rather than having two pairs of single vision glasses, bifocal lenses can be a more convenient solution as they combine both prescriptions into one pair of glasses.
If you think bifocals are for you but are put off by the line on the lens we have a range of bifocal lenses available without the line so they look like one complete lens.

Thinner and lighter lenses.
If you have a complex/high prescription you may want to consider a higher index lens,

it will improve the appearance and comfort of your glasses.

Transitions or also known as Photochromic lenses are fast acting tinted lenses which darken in sunlight.

Indoors they are completely clear, but outside they rapidly darken effectively changing them into conventional sunglasses. Transitions are available in grey or brown tints and offer 100% protection against damaging UV light.
Also available in Transitions XTRActive, transitions that work behind the window screen of your car to eliminate sunlight and glare while driving, they remain a very slight tint indoors but darken quickly outside as well as while driving in sunlight.

Anti Reflective coating is to reduce annoying reflections, improve the appearance of your spectacles and most importantly to enhance you vision.

More recent advances in technology now means you can get the added benefit of them being anti-scratch, anti-dust, repellent to water, grease and dirt making them more durable and a lot easier to clean.
